Fans of Elin Hilderbrand‘s best-selling novel have been waiting years for this—a chance to ogle the beachfront estate that’s the centerpiece of one of her most-loved reads, “The Perfect Couple,” which revolves around the death of a bridesmaid just before the wedding of the year on Nantucket.
At last, her 2018 novel has been made into a star-studded television show premiering on Netflix Sept. 5, with Nicole Kidman in the lead role. The Oscar-winner plays the groom’s mother, while the talented Liev Schreiber plays her husband. Dakota Fanning and Meghann Fahy round out the cast.
The setting of ritzy Nantucket—the preferred summer island home of many billionaires—is almost a character itself, with luxurious beach homes and stunning coastal views providing the perfect backdrop to the story’s drama and intrigue.
Filmed mostly in the picturesque coastal town of Chatham, MA, and Nantucket, the limited series positively revels in A-list real estate that leaves us breathless.
The scenes of gorgeous, gray-shingled homes flanked by puffy hydrangeas, verdant rolling lawns, and spectacular ocean views make it hard to believe anything could ever go wrong in these idyllic beach towns.
And yet, intrigue drips from the series’ every scene—and we are here for it.
Massachusetts boasts spectacular properties
We’re not gonna lie: Chatham and Nantucket are luxe locales—and not the places regular folks can afford to buy anymore. Real estate isn’t just expensive; it’s some of the most coveted in the country. Price tags easily climb into the multimillions, reflecting both the coastal exclusivity and the unparalleled lifestyle.
But if ogling is the only thing we can do, then ogle we must. Ahead of the show’s premiere, we did a deep dive on the area and uncovered five gorgeous homes for sale. Who knows—maybe we’ll catch a glimpse of them on screen.
1. 25 Glover Sq, Chatham, MA
Price: $3,299,000
With 27 linear miles of coastline, a variety of beaches, and access to Nantucket Sound, Chatham is a hidden gem.
“The vibrant village has lots of history and a great blend of restaurants and shops—and when driving around town, you can easily recognize how much pride people take in their properties,” says Jack Bohman, a real estate agent in Chatham with Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty.
One in particular is this three-bedroom, 4.5-bath home that was custom-built in 2018.
“It’s rare to find a turnkey house that allows one to park their car and walk to downtown and even the beach,” Bohman adds.

2. 67 Uncle Alberts Dr, Chatham, MA
Price: $4,750,000
Chatham offers a low-key vibe, according to local agents. That means its residents didn’t stalk the A-listers when filming for “The Perfect Couple” began.
“Sometimes when stars come to a small town, there’s a fixation on celebrity sightings, but here in Chatham, it was really under the radar,” reports Chris Rhinesmith, a Chatham agent and managing director at Compass.
This pretty five-bedroom, 6.5-bath home is hardly modest, but there’s magic to be found, he says. Not only is it a grand and spacious property that “inspires family fun and entertaining,” but bold color pops and vintage accessories make it a “celebration of chic luxury in Chatham.”

3. 37 Sankaty Head Rd, Nantucket, MA
Price: $26,850,000
This series locale is set on Nantucket, but the Massachusetts island was only used for B-roll shots and some background images, per reports.
Bohman says the crew even converted a Chatham storefront to be used as the Nantucket police station in the show.
“Now it’s a really cool oyster bar call Elwood’s,” he says.
Still, if a stunning family compound was needed on Nantucket, you could do worse than this fabulous eight-bedroom, 8.5-bath mansion.
Perched atop Sconset Bluff, this incredible listing includes the main house, a two-bedroom guest cottage, and sunset views over the ocean.

4. 355 Training Field Rd, Chatham, MA
Price: $1,500,000
This lovely dwelling is listed for much less than others here, but it’s still asking real money for the three bedrooms and 2.5 baths inside.
High ceilings and granite in the kitchen feel luxe, but the modern amenities make it stand out. The home is equipped with a Tesla solar electric system with 65 panels, updated heating and AC, and a new hot water tank.

5. 1 Ocean Avenue, Nantucket, MA
Price: $29,500,000
Billed as “the most historic estate in Sconset,” a charming village on the eastern end of the island, you have your choice of accommodations here. Besides the main house, you can sleep in the adorable rec cottage, the stable, or the chauffeur’s cottage.
Built more than a hundred years ago in 1920, the mansion has been completely renovated and is being sold with two adjoining properties. This true “generational compound” is ready for new owners—maybe you?
